Israel’s 70th anniversary has occurred, which memorialized and celebrated their sudden rebirth as a nation on May 14, 1948. Israel’s rebirth was the most momentous prophetic fulfillment in recent history as they became an independent nation again in their former homeland against all odds. After being scattered throughout the world since their rejection of Christ and the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem in 70 AD, the Jews were banished from their land for centuries. However, Isaiah and Ezekiel and other prophets predicted that after many years and in the Last Days they would return. Isaiah even predicted that they would be born in a single day:
“Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God.
Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her.”
Isaiah 66:8-10
Israel was reborn on the 5th day of Lyar (or Lyyar), which was the 14th day of May in 1948. The month of Lyar is the eighth month in Israel’s civil year calendar. According to the Jewish calendar, the 5th day of Lyar this year falls on April 19, 2018. This was the reason that Israel’s 70th anniversary was celebrated on the 19th and not on the 14th.
It has been 70 years since Israel declared statehood in 1948, and it has been 100 years since the Balfour Declaration that permitted the Jews to return to their land. Furthermore, it has been 50 years since Israel regained control of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount in the miraculous Six-Day War. Fifty years is one Jubilee period, which according to the Bible is a time of release and new beginnings. On Israel’s 70th anniversary, everything appears to be falling into place for Israel’s date with destiny at the end of this age. There is not much time left before Christ Returns.
Are we now at another major turning point in prophetic history? Will Israel soon announce the rebuilding of the Temple? The Lord is again moving in the lives of the Jews, and there is a feeling that something big is about to occur. Truly, The Time of the End is drawing near and the Return of Christ is closer than ever. When Jesus was talking about the events that would happen immediately before the end, he told his disciples a parable of the fig tree, which is representative of Israel in the Bible:
“Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
Matt. 24:32-35
Israel, like the fig tree, is now nearly ripe for the harvest of the Last Days. As Jesus said, we now live in the generation that will not pass until all these things are fulfilled!
